How far in advance can I book?
For our cottages, it is just over a year.
Where can i find the cheapest rates?
You can get our cheapest rates by booking directly with us. If you are a returning customer give us a ring (01305 851841) and we can give you a 10% discount.
What is the preferred changeover day?
Our changeover day is on a Friday from the beginning of May through to the end of August, which is when we generally only take 7 night bookings. During mid and low seasons we are very flexible in that we take short beak bookings for a minimum of 3 nights (2 nights on a Friday in the Gatehouse only). Please contact us if you have a special request.
Can i book a short break?
Short breaks can be booked from September through to the end of April. High season short breaks can be booked as a late availability booking (10 days prior to arrival) please contact us directly on 01305 851841. You will find our availability on our website.
What if I want to book several cottages?
You should be able to book multiple cottages on our website but please get in touch if you are having problems and will be able to facilitate this for you.
Is your accommodation suitable for people with disabilities or limited mobility?
Our 3 cottages have good accessibility, they are all on one level with only one step into each property. None of the properties have wide doors. The Gatehouse and Willow Barn have a walk in shower. Please let us know if you are taking a guide dog with you.
Is your accommodation suitable for families and children?
Cherry and Willow Barn are more suited to families. Children over two count towards the maximum occupancy number. We can provide a travel cot and high chair provided free of charge. Let us know what you need on our booking form. Please note no bedding, linen or towels are provided for cots so you’ll need to provide your own as well as rubber under-sheets for young children using the beds.
Is there access via public transport?
Our nearest train stations are Wool and Moreton and you would need to get a taxi from the station.
Your booking
How much will my deposit be?
You will be asked to pay a 25% at the time of booking or the full amount if your booking is within six weeks of the arrival date.
How can I pay my balance?
You will get a balance reminder email/letter around 42 days (six weeks) prior to arrival. This will contain a link to pay the balance online. Alternatively you can use the following payment methods:
- Cheque for the amount payable as stated on your confirmation email/letter.Cheques should be made payable to ‘Nutley Farm’ and posted to Nutley Farm, Winfrith Heath, Dorchester, Dorset, DT2 8DT. Please write the booking reference and lead name on the reverse. Please ensure this is posted in time to arrive by the balance due date (42 days prior to arrival) and is drawn on a UK bank.
- Online bank transfer, please use as a reference the surname that you booked in. For the payment use the details below. Bank transfers should be made in UK£ and charges need to be paid by the sender.

Is travel insurance provided?
No, we would recommend that you take out travel insurance as soon as you have made your booking to cover any unexpected changes to your personal circumstances or if severe weather stops you from travelling. Please also familiarise yourselves with the cancellation policy in our terms and conditions.
Can I transfer my holiday to another date or accommodation?
Outside of two months prior to your booking, we will do our best to accommodate your request. Any changes to bookings will incur an administration fee of £25.
What if i need to cancel my booking?
Please see our Terms and conditions for our cancellation policy (which you can find at the very bottom of the first page of our website).
Can I add extras after I have booked?
You can add extras (where applicable) such as a cot, extra logs, our organic sausages and bacon at any time prior to travel. Please email us bookings@nutleyfarm.co.uk or call (01305 851841) to arrange this.
When will I get key and direction details?
Your key will be in your door on arrival and directions details can be found on our website and by clicking on the google map, if you require any further details or you get stuck do give us a ring.
Staying at Nutley Farm
What can we expect in the accommodation / What is provided?
All of our accommodation is self- catering. It is kitted out with a standard inventory and this includes most things you would need to cook a meal or bake. You will need to take all food and condiments.
We do provide toilet roll, bin liners, washing up liquid and hand soap to help you settle in for a day or so. We also provide some cleaning supplies, and matches, firelighters and some logs for properties with fires. As far as possible, the cleaning products are environmentally friendly.
Garden furniture is provided and it consists of chairs and a table rather than sun loungers or recliners. We don’t currently supply parasols.
Bed linen, towels (one bath and one hand towels per person), tea towels, a bath mat (where applicable) and an oven cloth and a dish cloth is provided. If you are travelling with young children, we would advise bringing your own rubber sheets. We do not supply linen or bedding for our travel cots.
Do i need to have my cottage clean before i leave?
Please do leave you cottage clean and tidy and put any rubbish out in the appropriate bin. We also ask you to strip the beds.
Can I bring my pet?
Dogs are welcome in all of our accommodation. We have a small charge of £15 per dog per night. The maximum number of dogs allowed per property is two. Dogs should not be allowed on the furniture or left unattended in the accommodation. In the event of your dog fouling the gardens, we do require you to clean up and dispose of this in the correct manner. We also ask that you do not let your dog roam freely and keep it contained in your garden because we have lots of animals on the farm. We regret no other pets are allowed in our cottages.
Will I have a mobile phone signal?
Please note some mobile networks do struggle to get signal here on the farm. I would advise you to check with your mobile phone provider.
Is there WiFi?
All of our accommodation has free WiFi available. The WiFi is supported by BT. Please note intermittent connection problems can sometimes occur due to the remoteness of our accommodation and therefore should not be relied upon.
What do I do if I have an issue while on holiday?
In the unlikely event you have an issue; a lot of the answers should be available in the Welcome Folder located in the accommodation. If you have any other concerns, please call us on 01305 851841 or 07810 306444 as we want every opportunity to put it right.
What is access to the accommodation like?
Our cottages have car parking for two vehicles directly to the side of the properties.
What time can I arrive?
Please arrive at your accommodation after 3.00p.m, as this allows us time to get it ready before you arrive.
What time do I have to leave?
Departure time is 10am. We can usually be flexible and offer a later Sunday checkout of either 12pm or 4pm; please check with us prior to arrival.
What happens in the case of bad weather?
We will allow a transfer of the booking to another time of year at the same accommodation. Any additional costs incurred due to seasonal price differences will be payable. In the case of you cancelling the amended booking, you will be liable for 100% of the original booking plus any cancellations charges relating to additional costs paid on the new booking. We strongly recommended that you take out travel insurance after confirming your booking.
Can we use a barbecue?
Some of our cottages have a barbecue and this will be shown on the accommodation page of the website. Please ask if you wish to use your own BBQ.
Can I bring my bike or other sports equipment?
If you bring your bikes and/or sports equipment (e.g. kayak), we can accommodate the storage of these in our barn but you will need to bring your own locks.
How and when do i organise my free carriage ride?
It is best to let us know that you would like a carriage ride when booking and what day and time that would be best for you, however our carriage rides are subject to Ipon being fit and well and also very much weather dependent. We will book you in but if it is due to rain we can be flexible and move the day and or time.
Can I smoke?
All our cottages are non-smoking. This includes the use of vapours and e-cigarettes.
Can I charge my electric vehicle?
We do not allow charging of electric vehicles unless a specific charging point is available. Zap-map will be able to help you find the nearest charging points.
What happens if I break something during my stay?
We appreciate that sometimes accidents can happen. If you have a breakage, please let us know so that we can replace the item. We reserve the right to charge for breakages and damage to the accommodation.
Are there shops nearby?
There is a Co-op in Crossways village which is 2.6 miles away (a 6 minute drive) and in the opposite direction the is a Spar in Wool which is 3.6 miles away (8 minutes in the car).
How far is it to the nearest pub?
The nearest pubs are: The Countryman Inn (1.4 miles) and The Red Lion (1.1 miles). We have a array of excellent pubs locally including The Sailors Return and The Wise Man.
Can I get supermarket groceries delivered?
Yes, however, you’ll have to check with the supermarket that they deliver to the accommodation’s postcode and you’ll have to be there to receive your delivery. It’s therefore a good idea to leave it until the first morning of your holiday in case you get delayed arriving.
How far is it to Lulworth Cove?
It is 5 miles away or about 10 minutes in the car.
